Steampunk Statue

This is a sculpture of a steampunk adventurer. It’s a mixed media piece made of epoxy, super sculpey, resin, wood and various found objects.

I wanted to work as much detail into this piece as I could and also give it abit of a dynamic look, so it has a skirt swirling behind and a diorama base.

I’ve always thought that you should pay as much attention to the base of a sculpture as the sculpture itself. I might’ve got abit carried away with this one though!

I liked the idea that the steampunk was slowly overtaking the building and so that’s why there are brass clamps at the base and there’s a huge imposing face in the background.

The main structure is made of wood which I overlaid with plastic and cast resin pieces. I tried to build as much detail in as I could to give the piece a real sense of texture.

The figure was sculpted in a mixture of epoxy and super sculpey over a cast resin base.

The copper face behind the figure was roto cast in resin and I then scratch panel line detail in.

The large ring is a lazy susan that I’ve overlaid with cast resin pieces.
